When Steve came to pick up his new C30 f/3.3 he showed up with the coolest scope trailer I've ever seen:

Here is the interior of the trailer. Note: Desk folds down. Speakers. Catsperch observing chair (definitely need that for 30" f/3.3). Plenty of 12v outlets.

Here are the "guts" of the whole operation: Desk folds up for travel and becomes a storage bin. 120v inverter supplies household power. Solar charger keeps batteries topped off. 500 amp hour deep cycle batteries. Air compressor to dust off eyepieces and keep tires filled in remote areas.

Not really part of the trailer, but something to drool over. Yes, that is a lighted Riffle case filled with Ethos.

Very nice trailer. How long could you run the scope on 500 amp hours? My 80 a/hr battery lasts me a whole week at a star party, longer if I don't run dew heaters. On second thought after looking at the pics again he has lots of electrical equipment to run. With that set up you could be off the grid for a long time. |
