Post subject: | re alt bearing thickness and rocker box fit. |
I didn't realize until after I made the alt bearings that their thickness, 1 1/4" is thicker than I intend the rocker box to be. Is it going to be a problem to have the alt bearings thicker than the rocker box it sits on? Also, what is the best way to get my alt bearings on the mirror box so both sides are at the same height. Not doing this before, I still realize that if one alt bearing were higher than the other, the mirror box would not be level. thanks! |

Your bearings can stand proud of the rocker box and still work fine. If you have not glued up the mirror box yet, stack the mirror box sides together and drill the bearing mounting holes all at the same time. If the mirror box is already assembled, make a template and use the same template on both sides of the box. |

Yes, the bearing can "stand out" from the rocker box and work perfectly fine (sorry about the slang term "proud", it's an old carpenter's term). |
