Hey Websters, I've been thinking of a clever way to lock my scope in altitude when the UTA and trusses are not attached. I know most people prop up the back of the scope with a 2x4, but I wanted something a little more elegant. I found this picture where a guy is using 2 Da-Sta-Co levers that protrude through the Mirrorbox and into the Rockerbox. These levers are only $16 online and I'm sure the mirror cell is strong enough to mount them. What say you? http://www.destaco.com/assets/docs/en/ds/602.pdf

Looks like you went to Australia to find that picture! Those DaStaCo levers are the same ones we use in the installation of the ServoCat, so they are certainly up to the task. Although we can't recommend you install any device like that (think of the liability if a child found a large scope latched and unlatched it on himself), it does indeed look like a nice way to go. Post some pictures of your scope when you do it. |
