Post subject:  Mirror cover

I was talking to Eric at the FAAC swap meet last Saturday and he said I should post this here.

I've been looking for a mirror cover for my 14.5" clone for a long time without any luck. A friend of mine out west has a Starmaster 14.5" and he found a tupperware cake pan lid that was the perfect size to cover his mirror. I was out shopping for something else and like always was keeping my eyes peeled for a suitable mirror cover. At that moment I got a text from my son who is in grad school out in Oklahoma studying music. He's a percussionist which got me thinking about maybe a drum shell could be used to make a cover when it hit me that a drum head might work. There was a Guitar Center in the same shopping center I was at and bought a 15" drum head for $14 bucks. When I got it home I couldn't believe how well it fit on my Webster mirror cell perfectly resting in between the three mirror clip posts. Attached are some pics, I've since made a "knob" out of the loop side of some Velcro and stuck it in the middle to make it easy to put on and remove from the mirror box.

Hope this is helpful to anyone with a 14.5" mirror. The drum heads only come in one inch increments so don't know how it will work on the other sized mirrors.

Anyway, Cheers,

Jim, I like your idea.

Some snug fitting rubber washers could maybe be pushed down the threads to hold the cover in place.

I'm going to Guitar Center next week for drum heads!
