Post subject:  Dark Sky camping in Michigan/Ohio?
Hello all.
My first post! Awaiting some moola in a few weeks to order a 20" Zambuto. Can't wait. My first legit-high quality dob! Currently the owner of a 16" Lightbridge. Lots of aperture for the money, but time to move into a higher level of craftsmanship.
Anyway, I expect to order it in late Feb. '10. So I'd hope to be making a trip to pick it up at the Webster shop in the fall. Thought I'd make a 3-day camping trip out of it. Would love some advice as to where is some dark-sky camping, say, within a 3 hour drive of Detroit. Anyone got a favorite little hideaway? Just tent camping. I'd be travelling from Niagara Falls, Canada, so a 3-day trip would be fun. Detroit is a 4-hour drive from here.
A campground name, with a phone # would be greatly appreciated.
For anyone interrested, I can't say enough good things about Cherry Springs, Pennsylvania. Really dark, and amazing elevation! 3 hours south of Buffalo. - David Perry.
